I once randomly chose a young boy (about 8 years old) to help me with a magic trick in my magic and ventriloquism show. It was a fundraiser for a church. He was a bit quiet at first, but he did really well in helping me. I found out over a year later that he was a foster child who had just been placed in a new forever home. Until the moment when he starred in my show, he never spoke. He never engaged with his new parents or his brother (a blood relative). On the way home from my show, he was excited and very talkative! He opened up and accepted his new home and family. That few minutes on stage with me broke him out of his shell. His adopting mother jokingly asked me if there were now a way to shut him up.
After a hypnosis show for an after-prom party, a 17 year old girl came up to me and told me how much my show gave her a new outlook on life. She saw how powerful the subconscious mind is. She heard my message of greater self-confidence and that she, too, could have a better tomorrow. She disclosed to me that she had suicidal thoughts because of the sexual abuse she suffered. I talked to an advisor from her school to make sure she was getting the help she needed.
I'll never forget a principal confiding in me that she was desperate for anything I can do to help her motivate the kids in her district to learn. She was in the buckle of the meth belt. She told me that many of her kids (of all ages) thought all they needed to do to make a living was learn how to make and sell meth.
These three stories are just the tip of the iceberg. I have hundreds of stories just like these that I have encountered over the course of my 30 year career. And those are just the stories I know about. Imagine the countless ripples in the pond I have left behind without my knowledge.
